Student: Checking Grades

Feedback is essential for learning. Moodle allows you to track your progress and view detailed grading information from your instructors.
1. The Gradebook Overview
To see a summary of your performance across all subjects:
- Click your User Avatar in the top right corner.
- Select Grades from the dropdown menu.
- This opens the "Overview report". It lists every course you are enrolled in and your current total grade for each.
2. Detailed Course Grades
To see the breakdown of a specific class:
- Enter the course page.
- Click the Grades tab in the secondary navigation bar (below the course title).
- This opens the User report.
Understanding the User Report Columns
The grade table can look complex. Here is what the columns mean:
| Column | Explanation |
|---|---|
| Grade item | The name of the assignment, quiz, or activity. |
| Calculated weight | How much this assignment counts towards the final course grade (e.g., 20%). |
| Grade | Your score (e.g., 85.00). |
| Range | The possible lowest and highest scores (e.g., 0–100). |
| Percentage | Your grade converted to a percentage (e.g., 85%). |
| Feedback | Short text comments from the teacher. |
3. Viewing Detailed Feedback (Assignments)
The Gradebook view only shows the score and a short comment. To see full details, marked-up PDFs, or Rubrics:
- Go back to the course homepage.
- Click on the link of the specific Assignment again (the same place where you uploaded it).
- Scroll down to the Feedback section (below the submission status).
What to look for:
- Grade: The final score.
- Graded on: When the teacher finished marking.
- Feedback comments: A longer message from the instructor.
- Annotated PDF: Highly Recommended. If you see a PDF icon here named "Annotated PDF", click to open it. This is your original paper with the teacher's red pen marks, highlights, and specific notes directly on the pages.
- Rubric: If a rubric was used, you will see the grid showing exactly which criteria you met and where you lost points.
4. Viewing Detailed Feedback (Quizzes)
- Open the Quiz activity.
- You will see a "Summary of your previous attempts".
- Click the link labeled Review (in the right-hand column).
- This opens the quiz in "Review Mode".
- You can navigate through the questions to see which ones you got right or wrong, and read specific feedback for each question (if enabled by the teacher).
